NEBRASKA CITY (SNR) – Under the guidance and instruction of Sister Ana Maria, O.S.F., Hispanics in Nebraska City are experiencing a deeper, more profound sense of prayer and devotion to the crucified Christ.
During Lent, several families have been gathering twice weekly for stations of the cross at various homes.
“They strive to console the Heart of Jesus by praying and meditating on His Passion and Death,” Sister Ana Maria said.
After the stations, while each person adores the Crucified Christ, the rest of the participants sit quietly, Sister Ana Maria said, with a gentle breathing prayerful disposition, and open their hearts to the thirst of Jesus. Some pray imaginatively on heart-felt aspects of the Passion, and others write letters to Jesus expressing their love and affection.
“Something beautiful is happening,” she said, “especially during the silence.”
The children, she added, are “in awe of what they are seeing in their parents and they too desire to participate with their innocent simplicity and love. Praise God!”
